How to Prep Your Home for the Super Bowl

Friday, February 02, 2018

By Zoe Eisenberg Whether Super Bowl time is just for extended family or a full-blown affair, below are 5 ways to prep your space for the big game day.

Keep it casual. Game day is usually pretty informal. Set up a low-key buffet of finger food in the dining room, drape cozy blankets over your seating areas, and skip the fancy drinks for coolers stuffed with ice and beer.

Add extra seating. Whether it’s a pile of fluffy pillows on the floor, or dragging in that love seat from the sun room, adding extra seating to your game viewing room is never a bad idea.

Add a beverage cart. Separating the snack station from the beverage area is a great way to ease traffic. Drink carts can be relatively inexpensive, or you can DIY by converting a console table or corner of the kitchen counter.

Set up a kid station. If you or your friends are also parents, create a fun kid zone in an adjacent or nearby room. A low table with art supplies or a separate TV area stocked with favorites can entertain the tots for hours while you enjoy the game.

Be disaster ready. We've seen it before: your team scores a touchdown and the group goes wild—spilling that glass of wine on the carpet in the process. Have a cleanup kit ready to go, with towels, stain remover and seltzer.
