How to Become a Millionaire Without a College Degree

Friday, July 27, 2018

College is not for everyone, and for some, it is possible to become successful without a degree. Twenty-five-year-old self-made millionaire and founder of Millionaire Mafia, Ben Oberg offers the following tips for financial success on your own terms.

Become a master of one thing at a time. "Choose to master one thing in your business at a time. Become an absolute technician at that one skill until you produce results from it. Once you have produced results, then you can build out from there. But choosing to try and master ten things at a time will set you up for no results for all ten of those things."

Write it down. "Every single goal that you have has to be written down, if it's not written down, it’s merely a dream and you are not intentional about it. Once you put those goals down on paper, you are saying to yourself, "this is something I'm going to achieve." Take a look at those goals and create a plan based on how you are going to go about achieving them in a step-by-step process."

Never stop learning. "You always need to be learning about your business. If you stop feeding your brain knowledge about new products, trends and software in your field, then your business is going to stop growing. You're going to become old news in your field, your income is going to plateau, and your talents are going to max out at a certain height. Your success will stop while your competitors continue to grow, adapt and refine their expertise while they surpass you. So, make sure you are always learning, so you stay ahead of the curve."

Build a Support System. "When you don't follow the norm, i.e., go to college, get a degree, find a 9-5 job and pay off your debts, people will tell you that you will fail because it's unfamiliar to them. This is not an indictment of your abilities rather a testament to their fears and limitations. It is critical that you find a community of individuals who are like-minded and have the same goals as you.”

Learn communication skills. "You must be able to talk about your product or business with confidence and expertise. You must understand the skill set of creating relationships before your shove your product/brand down someone's throat. Many people are not great communicators; it's not something we were taught in formal education. If you can master how to communicate with people properly, you are ahead of your game on every level. The biggest tip I can give is to learn how to listen. That is the essential part of any business; listen to what the customers are asking for."
